The economies of African nations are recovering better from the global economic crisis than what the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had predicted.
"We expected the Asian markets to recover quicker than the African countries, but we are surprised even the African economies are recovering faster than we expected," Strauss-Kahn told reporters in Nairobi.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation's (NNPC) Managing Director Mohammed Barkindo said on Friday that in 2008, with a negative account balance of 326 billion naira ($2.1 billion), the corporation was technically bankrupt.
